Enjoy fine in-shore fishing and diving in Doubtless Bay, Whangaroa and Rangaunu Harbours in Northland, New Zealand with your skipper, Pete Wright, on Snapa Slapa.

We specialise in soft-baiting for snapper as well as traditional stray-line fishing.

Locally, departing from Rangiputa or Whatuwhiwhi (Perehipe Bay or Matai Bay), you can fish Doubtless Bay and Rangaunu Harbour on either side of the Karikari Peninsula.

You can catch snapper, kingfish, tarakihi, kahawai and many other species. You may also enjoy diving and sightseeing with dolphin, orca, the local bird population and other sea life with excellent opportunities for photographers.

What it will cost

We can accommodate a maximum of three adults

Two hours - from Whatuwhiwhi (Perehipe Bay) only
(This includes 1 kg pilchard bait - soft baits at $2.00 each)

Three hours - from Whatuwhiwhi (Perehipe Bay) only
(This includes 1 kg pilchard bait - soft baits at $2.00 each)

Four hours - from Whatuwhiwhi, Matai Bay, Rangiputa & Kaimaumau
(This includes 2 kg pilchard bait - soft baits at $2.00 each)

Eight hours - from Whatuwhiwhi, Matai Bay, Rangiputa & Kaimaumau
(This includes 4 kg pilchard bait - soft baits at $2.00 each)

Game fishing (Marlin, Tuna, Hapuka, Blue Nose)
(minimum 4 persons; max 6 persons)

Four and eight hour trips are also available from the following locations at an extra charge:

Mangonui (Mill Bay) and Taipa

Whangaroa Harbour (Totara North) and Houhora

Additional bait can be purchased at the following prices:
1 kg pilchard at NZ$8.00 : Soft baits at NZ$2.00 each : Snapa Slapa burley at NZ$10.00 a bucket.

Feel free to supply your own bait and burley.

Day gear is supplied but lure losses and rod and reel damages and breakages are to be paid by the client concerned.

Deposits : After we have advised you that a fishing charter is available, a deposit of a half of the total cost is required. The deposit may be paid by NZ dollar cheque or by transfer to our bank account. We are unable to accept credit card payments.

Cancellation : As a small business, cancellations do heavily impact on us and if we are not able to replace cancelled bookings, any deposit will be forfeited. Any refund of deposit will be in New Zealand dollars. Refunds are normally only given if the maritime weather forecast is over 20 knots on the day of your trip.

Balance of payment : The balance of payment may be paid at the time of the charter by cash or NZ dollar cheque.
